COUPLET CHORUS REBUTTAL: EPISODE NO. 58

14.03.2021.

...

The accusations are pouring in, not only at the expense of journalists, but also at all those who dared to support them. The President of the Assembly, Ivica Dačić, and the other chairmen did not even formally invite the MPs to stick to the agenda, and in a one-party Assembly, there is no one to call for a violation of the Rules of Procedure.

According to many times tried and tested recipe, what appears on the front pages of pro-regime tabloids in the morning, will be a full-day topic in the Serbian Parliament, as well. Admittedly, when the tabloids accused the current president of the Football Association of Serbia or some Serbian Progressive Party officials of crime, there was no reaction, but when the regime media connected the investigative journalism network KRIK with the recently arrested criminal clan, there were calls from the parliamentary rostrum. The accusations are pouring in, not only at the expense of journalists, but also at all those who dared to support them. And although the President Vučić publicly told them to let the journalists do their job, the MPs who swear allegiance to him, this time showed “incredible courage” and did not obey. On the agenda, there are the election of members of the Anti-Corruption Agency Council and the report of the Energy Agency, but the discussions of this kind could actually be heard.

Today, the daily press says that a John Doe or someone is the owner of “KRIK”… is that the name? Well, they went over us with a fine-tooth comb last year when I was a Deputy Speaker together with Mr. Arsić, Mr. Marinković, and when Mrs. Maja Gojković was the Speaker of the Parliament. And what did they get with that?”

“And now I wonder, [bearing in mind] all those pictures of Danilo Vučić that were on the covers of “KRIK”, whether that connection between Marinika Tepić, Dragan Đilas and the people who work in the Ministry of the Interior made it possible to quickly set up and compromise photos like this. The second thing refers to those who belong to this horde and this clique, and have one very interesting name, they are called the Open Parliament. I see that today they were very diligent to join the witch-hunt on my colleague Vladimir Orlić. Please, Mr. Speaker of the Assembly, take action on this issue, because the Open Parliament, first of all, abuses the name, because they are not a parliament, they are just an extended hand of Dragan Đilas and Marinika Tepić, another paid megaphone in a row.”

“And now you have nothing to do with any criminal clans, you have nothing to do with drug dealers, don’t give me that.  And you did not participate and do not participate in the shameful campaign. Allegedly no one is eavesdropping on Aleksandar Vučić, allegedly no one is eavesdropping on his family. And now you think you have the right to react to show some solidarity, I guess, or something?”

“…We condemn and call names, regardless of the Code, as no Code can forbid us to use the right expression against those who planned the assassination of the President of the Republic, because they are the worst scum and bandits in Serbia.”

The President of the Assembly, Ivica Dačić, and the other chairmen did not even formally invite the MPs to stick to the agenda, and in a one-party Assembly, there is no one to call for a violation of the Rules of Procedure.

For the Open Parliament, Mirjana Nikolić.
