Apart from the official biography and words of encouragement, nothing could be heard about Jasmina Vasović during the six hours of the debate. It seemed that the real topic of the session was the interview given to the weekly NIN by the Judge of the Court of Appeals, Miodrag Majić.

The Assembly elected the Judge Jasmina Vasović as the President of the Supreme Court of Cassation. It can be seen from her biography that she has knowledge and experience for that position, although this brings up the question why she is the only registered candidate for that position. Everyone could have applied, I don't know why they did not, said the President of the High Judicial Council, Dragomir Milojević, at the session.

“The reasons why someone did not vote are personal. You know that we select Miss World from among the candidates who applied, and so we did in this case, as well.”

We are conveying only a part of the atmosphere.

“Mister Majić announced a riot in the judiciary four years ago, which unfortunately for him did not occur, and he is now lamenting that fact. He is also complaining about the people because the people want a strong hand, so nothing bothers them in this country, and he is also blaming the Assembly of Serbia. The Judge Majić was appalled by the very idea that someone might invite him to the Assembly to provide some answers. Here I am telling him that we will neither invite him nor would like to see him. Frankly speaking, he disgusts us!”

“[I would just like to] point to the hypocrisy of the Judge Majić and ask why the Association of Judges did not react to previous statements.”

“And then the Judge Majić comes to the scene and releases these people who, I repeat, in the most monstrous ways tortured and killed Serbs and other non-Albanians in the vicinity of Gjilane.”

“With that verdict of acquittal of the KLA butcher of the Serbs, the Judge Majić massacred the Serbian victims again. Well, that’s my message for him!”

“None of us has ever spoken here and labelled a certain judge because he reached certain verdicts, or commented on those verdicts”.

At the end of the debate, Milenko Jovanov from the Serbian Progressive Party took the floor again.

“So today, during the whole debate, we’ve been hearing arguments for and we haven’t heard any argument against the election of the proposed candidate. The only argument that remains standing is from the person in charge of the Đilas’s judicial alliance, i.e. the Judge Majić, which was presented in his interview, in which he said that the most important argument against the election of the candidate Vasović to this position was that she knew the President of the Republic. There is not any influence, there is not any connection, there’s just the fact that she knows him. This is such a nonsense and so stupid, that obviously Majić came up with it himself.”
