Twelve items on the agenda were discussed last week, including five laws to which no one had amendments. Most of the time is dedicated to the Museum of Genocide Victims, but in such a way that almost everyone talked about oneself.
“You know, my great-grandfather Mile Božičković did not die as a patriot, nor as a Chetnik, nor as a partisan. He did not have a rifle in his hand when the Ustashas took him, the Muslim Ustashas took him to the slaughter. He had a sieve in his hand, he was sieving flour at that moment and he was with his daughter Staka, my grandmother, who later told all that to me and to all other grandchildren. Well, that’s why we need this museum, Mrs. Gojković, so that our grandmothers wouldn’t have to teach us history anymore.“
“It is not easy, you know, I am a descendant of a family that suffered from 1945 onwards. In the Second World War, we hid from the Germans, but we have suffered since 1945. Until recently we had to keep silent about that part of history when our grandfathers sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Serbia.“
“We must preserve our history. For me as a man, as a descendant of a fighter who lived until a few years ago, a man who taught me everything, but I was always on the other side, I thought differently and I always sang Draža’s songs, Chetnik songs, but, of course, when my grandfather is not there.”
And when it came to a decision about a court president who is retiring, there was talk for hours about the son of the president of Serbia, who was accused by a tabloid portal of having connections with hard-line fan groups. Those who did not read the portal did not even know what it was about, but MPs repeated that the one who attacks the Vučićs – works for the mafia.
“Aleksandar Vučić rose up against the mafia and because of that he and his family were criminalised. No one could have expected that all this would go so far, that lies and misinformation about the President of the Republic and his family would be spread even through the media and certain political parties belonging to the opposition.“
“Publishing the news on six pages about Danilo Vučić, the eldest son of the President of the Republic, is equal to drawing a target on his forehead and equal to calling for his lynching and murder. The portal ‘Direktno’ proved to be a newssheet [disseminating] deception and lies, and with this text about Danilo Vučić, the portal ‘Direktno’, Đilas’s portal, proved to be the newssheet of the Belivuk clan, the newssheet of the armed wing of the mafia and terror.“
“We are witnessing such heinous attacks, such sick insinuations and lies related to children who have often not yet come out of the cradle. Although as innocent as lambs, the older children will turn to be the ones who actually organised the Veljko Belivuk clan, Kavački clan or some other clan. And they will probably soon be accused of being donors of the Sicilian mafia.“
The Serbian Progressive Party MPs say that they will not retaliate against the attacks of the opposition because they know what is sacred and what is decent.
