COUPLET CHORUS REBUTTAL E73: A LA PRIME MINISTER

28.06.2021.

...

According to the tried and tested scenario, the last Thursday of the month served this time too for the Prime Minister and the ministers to demonstrate their attitude towards important topics and present their successes. And when it comes to the oversight role of the Parliament, Ana Brnabić openly says here that the Assembly of Serbia does not have to know what the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, is negotiating with Priština, the Assembly just needs to have faith.

“Why to this day hasn’t Serbia got a platform for negotiation with Priština institutions? As the land lies, we mostly react to their proposals.”

“So a lot has been done, but with smart moves and smart politics. It wouldn’t be politically smart to reveal all our positions. I hope that this time you will understand that, and I hope you will agree with me. I don’t know who goes into any talks and negotiations by saying – this is my position and that’s it.”

The Prime Minister showed even more passion in her speech about the opposition, which, she says, is arrogant and threatens to bring the current Government to the block or arrest it.

“[…] they have nothing to offer citizens, except threats, insults, but also the most brutal insults at the expense of us politicians, regardless of whether they are men or women. When it comes to this, they [respect] gender equality. They insult us equally. They sometimes insult women a little more and a little worse, but such is the policy of Dragan Đilas, Marinika Tepić, Vuk Jeremić, all of them.”

And when it comes to stagnation on the European path, the Prime Minister used a recognisable vocabulary.

“I see that many are joking and making fun of it, which I find quite interesting, when I say that we have done much more than the EU expected from us and that we have surprised the EU in that sense. It’s incredible how some people and some tycoon media simply cannot accept that Serbia is a different country today.”

And we still have to cut a rug.

“I’m pretty good at dancing kolo. You turned to the right person. From time to time, I like to get up and dance kolo, even though I go to the “Exit”[ festival], too. So, I’m in the perfect place to fuse “Exit” and “Guča”, because we have both.”

“I’ll invite you to come to the party when I throw one. The Prime Minister will be the  president of the jury and should assess who dances better – you or I.”

Other questions related to the environment, rural development and vaccination, which is no longer so successful.

For the Open Parliament, Mirjana Nikolić
