The law discussed in the Assembly referred to the most vulnerable groups, to citizens who, for whatever reason, should be placed in social protection institutions. There was to be talk about the poor, the abandoned, the abused, the children, the elderly and how to protect them.
At the beginning, the Minister showed that she was quite uninterested, it was obvious that she was too lazy to even read.
“The accommodation is provided with the informed consent of a potential beneficiary. Accommodation services in the process of deinstitutionalisation are provided in accordance with the best interests of a child; for adults in accordance with the will and wishes of beneficiaries with respect for dignity and application of decision-making principles without or with support.”
MPs spoke briefly about humanity, avowed that the institutions of social protection, despite the narrative that Serbia is in the golden age, are not in the best condition, and then moved on to the given topic – citizens protesting against the environment are seduced, and the government sincerely worries for that area.
“While they are protesting over the environmental issues, the EU opened Cluster 4 [in accession negotiation] with Serbia, which concerns the so-called Green agendas, as a confirmation that the EU believes that Serbia is ready to meet all European standards in terms of ecology.”
“This government has done more for the environment than many others before, and today it is investing 250 percent more funds than the previous authorities. It is very easy to check the quality of the air in Bor today, and to see its quality during the previous government.”
“They are not interested in ecology or the issue of environmental protection, because nature is not preserved on the streets, where we saw torches burning and leaving garbage behind. [It’s preserved] with serious work.”
“Today we have those fake environmentalists who harass citizens on the streets on Saturdays. We have people who are really worried about the environment and we have these fake ones who are trying to minimise the results of the work of President Aleksandar Vučić.”
“On the one hand you have these fake ecologists, people who are paid […] by foreign organisations to bring unrest to Serbia and clearly show that their goal is not to protect the ecology, the environment, nor are they interested or concerned for citizens, but in fact, their only goal is to overthrow Aleksandar Vučić and come back to power.”
During the sitting, MPs called on the citizens to express their standpoints in the elections on April 3rd, noting that “Vučić’s policy has no alternative”.
For the Open Parliament, Mirjana Nikolić.
